K’NEX cones are specialised Classic K’NEX parts with a tapered, conical shape. They have been produced in several colours and can be used as shaped or finishing elements in a wide variety of models.

Unlike rods and connectors, cones do not form a basic structural family. Their distinctive shape makes them particularly useful where a model needs a pointed, tapered or streamlined form.

The black cone is documented with part number 90946, the same number used for the red version. No separate part number for the black colour has yet been identified.

Uses

Cones can be used as nose sections, ends, decorative shapes and streamlined elements, depending on the model.

Their function is therefore determined largely by the construction in which they are used rather than by one fixed mechanical purpose.

Identification

Colour alone is not always sufficient to identify a K’NEX cone. Where possible, use the part number, colour and original model or set context together.

Different part numbers are documented for the Classic cones, but this does not by itself establish that the cones have different dimensions or geometry.
